GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Health Sciences Department at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Fall Semester, August 2019. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
There are numerous adjunct faculty in the program with excellent teaching and clinical skills. This will be the only full-time faculty member. Our facilities in the Race Building include classrooms with state-of-the-art computer and presentation equipment, a computer laboratory and Learning Resource Center, and human simulation laboratories. Clinical experiences take place in a variety of facilities and agencies throughout five counties. The program attracts excellent students and has outstanding graduates. The school also possesses approval from the State of California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch. The Radiologic Technology Program has a new energized DR lab on campus with digital processing and additionally a second non-energized table and upright bucky for simulation positioning practice.



Examples of Duties:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Dean, Health Sciences, the program director will assure effective program operations and has the responsibility to coordinate student recruitment, selection, guidance, instruction, and evaluation; establish effective working relationships with radiologic technology staff within the clinical education centers; coordinate the community advisory committee for the program; organize and oversee lecture presentations, the preparation of laboratory assignments, and all demonstrations and evaluations regarding program courses including off-campus clinical practicum courses; participates in budget planning; maintains current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Primary areas of teaching may include didactic, lab, and clinical courses in radiographic positioning, special radiographic procedures, digital image acquisition and display, general physics and radiation production, radiation physics, principles and use of radiographic equipment, radiographic technique, pharmacology, venipuncture, basic principles of computed tomography, ethics and law, fluoroscopy, radiobiology, pathology, quality assurance, radiation protection, patient care and management, and other related courses; perform student observation, evaluation, and skills testing; and coordinate program accreditation processes. In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of the principles and process of instructional design and curriculum development, use of advanced technology in the delivery and archiving of information, current clinical aspects of Radiologic Technology, and theoretical aspects of Radiologic Technology along with the ability to teach and communicate effectively with students, work closely and cooperatively with colleagues, and work with academically and culturally diverse students. Assumes a leadership role in the continued development of the program.

SRJC offers courses at two campuses, located in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, as well as multiple satellite locations within the district, including on-line. While this assignment is for the Santa Rosa campus, please note the district reserves the right of assignment to any location, and that assignments could involve any combination of day or evening classes with weekly office hours being mandatory. Instructors assume responsibility for maintaining currency in the field, for updating existing courses and developing new curriculum (including courses that serve community needs, such as short, non-credit, or online courses), assisting in the assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in department activities and other college service such as committee work, managing laboratories, and participating in community outreach on behalf of the college.



Minimum Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications under all categories as described below (required by Santa Rosa Junior College, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) program requirements for continuing education and the State Chancellor's Office which governs the minimum qualifications for Community Colleges).
  • Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree*; AND
  • Three years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a registered radiologic technologist in a clinical setting with a minimum of two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) community college teaching experience in a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) program; AND
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; AND
  • Current certificate as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of California Department of Health Services / Radiologic Health Branch; AND
  • Current State of California Fluoroscopy permit; AND
  • Requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students; OR
  • A fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health & Physical Care Services and Related Technologies; OR the equivalent.

* Candidates who do not possess the Master's degree and file for equivalency must be currently enrolled in a Master's degree program. Equivalency consideration will only be considered by JRCERT for the educational requirement (Master's degree). If equivalency is granted, it will be contingent on the Master's degree being completed within one year of appointment to this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with curriculum design, program administration,evaluation, instruction, and academic advising; student learning outcome activities and online teaching and course management;
  • Three years of experience in the administration of a JRCERT accredited Radiography program at a community college.
