Detailed Position Description:

We are looking for a faculty member to teach and advise students in the CACREP accredited Counseling program, in the Department of Counseling & Marital and Family Therapy (CMFT) at USD's School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES). This position is a three year contracted position, beginning Academic Year 2018-2019 with the possibility of extension.

Specific responsibilities include:

Teaching 7 courses across each year (summer and intersession courses can count towards load). Preference for applicants with the expertise to teach at least some of the following courses: COUN 502 Professional Orientation, Law & Ethics, COUN 508 Research Methods, COUN 530 Assessment, COUN 541 Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, and COUN 547 Risk and Trauma.

Individual and group student advising regarding practicum placements, career paths, and scholarly research activities.

Contributions to university, school, and departmental service including program outreach, student orientation, admissions, and other activities to be determined.

Job Requirements:

Requirements for the position include:

A strong track record of and interest in teaching graduate level courses; Candidates should provide evaluations from students (and peers if available);

Commitment to departmental priorities including social justice, diversity and inclusion, and evidence-based counseling practices; Candidates should provide evidence of diversity and inclusion principles within their teaching, advising, and scholarly work;

Counseling practice experience and clinical licensure (or licensure eligibility);

Ability and interest in advising graduate students on program progress, practicum placements, scholarly research, and career pathways.
Required academic qualifications:

Doctoral degree in a mental health discipline with preference for training in counselor education from a CACREP accredited program.

Persons offered employment must successfully complete a pre-employment background check.
