Short Description:
Frostburg State University, Department of Music, invites applications for an Instrumental Music Education Specialist and Wind Ensemble Director position at the rank of Lecturer. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track contractual faculty position to begin Fall 2018. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department of Music at FSU offers a challenging bachelor's degree to music majors and minors that promotes artistic, creative, and intellectual growth in all aspects of music, including performance, history, pedagogy, and theory. The program prepares these students for an increasingly competitive professional world by fostering their musical, intellectual, and personal development. Program options for music majors include music education, vocal and instrumental performance, music industry, and music studies. The Department also offers a music minor, jazz minor, and musical theatre minor. Faculty are expected to be effective teachers and committed to excellence in undergraduate music and music education. Description of Ongoing/New Duties:
Teach undergraduate courses in instrumental methods, instrumental conducting, elementary and secondary methods, introduction to music education, and/or other related areas as assigned. Direct Wind Ensemble. Organize and host FSU Honor Band Festival. Recruit undergraduate instrumental music majors. Coordinate and supervise student teachers. Maintain a strong relationship with NAfME; develop strategic partnerships by networking with music educators in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Faculty members at FSU are expected to actively participate in the Universitys student-learning-assessment program. Duties also may include service to the Department, College, and community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree from a regionally accredited university in Music or related field. Evidence of outstanding public school experience in conducting concert bands, wind ensembles, marching band, and/or private instruction. Proven success in student recruitment. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and conducting. Knowledge of current issues in instrumental music instruction with understanding and application of technology. Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Music or related field.
