Short Description:
Frostburg State University, Department of Communication, seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track contractual Lecturer in Mass Communication position to begin Fall 2018. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

With approximately 170 majors and anticipating continued growth and program expansion, the Mass Communication Program and FSU-TV3 reside in the state-of-the-art Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology. The facilities feature a five-camera high-definition television studio which includes an Unreel Virtual Reality set, LED lighting grid, and industry standard audio and video monitoring. Description of Ongoing/New Duties:
Teach four Mass Communication courses per semester. Primary teaching assignments may include introduction to mass communication, research methods, communication theory, current issues and new technologies in mass communication, or other courses (such as introduction to video production) depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications. Faculty members at FSU are expected to actively participate in the Universitys student-learning-assessment program. The successful candidate will demonstrate professional commitment to the communication discipline, active participation in departmental affairs, commitment to development of innovative teaching strategies, and external engagement with the community.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree from a regionally accredited university in Mass Communication or closely related field. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. in Mass Communication or closely related field.
