Job Description

This position will remain open until filled. Application review will begin 2/15/2020. For full consideration all application related material should be submitted by 2/14/2020.

The Applied Technology Department at The College of Southern Nevada invites applications for a Full Time Aviation Instructor in the Aviation Technology Program starting fall 2020. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • The Aviation Instructor will instruct lab and lecture courses in the Aviation Technology programs in accordance with the established course syllabus of record using various modalities. This includes organizing instruction towards achieving student learning outcomes; selection of textbooks and other curriculum; conferring with students; evaluating student mastery; and providing a safe and positive classroom-learning environment.
  • Duties will also include curriculum development and program assessment; student advising and mentoring; scholarship of teaching and learning; participation in student recruitment activities; outreach to the college, community, and profession; and duties as assigned by the Program Lead and Department Chair.
  • The candidate shall participate and assist the team to maintain and develop strong industry and community partnerships, within and outside of the program advisory committee.
  • Instructors shall maintain current FAA certification and commit to continuing their professional development as an educator through attendance to industry seminars, conferences and membership of professional associations.


Required Qualifications
  • Current FAA issued Certificated Flight (II) Instructor.
  • Flight Simulator instructional experience during the last 24 months.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Technology from a regionally accredited college and/or university, or closely related field, plus three years of related work experience OR Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Technology from a regionally accredited college and/or university, or closely related field, plus five years of related work experience.
  • 100 Hours Flight Time as PIC during last 24 months.


Starting Salary Range

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
