Applications are currently being accepted for College EEO/504/Discipline Officer in the Student Affairs department, located at San Diego Mesa College. Hours are Monday-Tuesday, 8:00am-6:00pm; Wednesday-Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm; Friday 8:00am-3:00pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, this position coordinates an array of Student Conduct / Discipline responsibilities and serves as the 504/EEO Officer for the college. This position collaborates with various departments on campus to encourage and promote an understanding of Student Conduct, Rights and Responsibilities. Closely works with faculty and students to address behavioral concerns and adjudicates violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Plans, organizes, coordinates Site Compliance/ EEO/ 504 Trainings for the college. Presents workshops and trainings on Student Code of Conduct. Facilitates activities to engage students as active citizens of our college community with an understanding of their rights and responsibilities. Implements restorative justice programs, opportunities and trainings. Works collaboratively with the Dean of Student Affairs and Mental Health to address students of concern and distress.
The following duties are typical for this classification:
  • Coordinate and present various educational workshops to students, staff and faculty regarding Student Code of Conduct, Rights and Responsibilities and 504 and site compliance
  • Coordinate in reach activities to educate our community on community standards and rights and responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and use of a tracking and evaluation system to evaluate the progress educational workshops
  • Participate in the development and delivery of workshops
  • Closely collaborate with both on and off campus departments assisting with student success
  • Assist in the development of materials for Student Rights and Responsibilities
  • Participate in meetings of college personnel and representatives from local community colleges and universities
  • Provide clearly written reports, program plans, and event plans, when requested or appropriate
  • Develop, implement, and assess Service Area Outcomes, Program Review and other related outcomes for Student Rights and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train student workers and graduate interns
  • Coordinate and provide leadership to the staff, faculty and administrators
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for faculty, staff and students in need of addressing student of concern or allegations involving the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Assist in the development of necessary programs and services designed to assure student Rights and Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Knowledge of: Applicable sections of California Education Code Functions, operations and activities associated with the Office of Student Affairs including services to meet the needs of students Interpersonal skills using tact, diplomacy, and courtesy Ability to resolve conflict Mediation skills District organization, operations, policies and objectives Development, implementation and monitoring of budget; resource development Oral and written communication skills Effective collaboration, communication and consensus-building techniques Principles and practices of management and supervision Operation of a computer and assigned software Record-keeping techniques Ability to: Present a positive image of the College Communicate and maintain an effective working relationship with a faculty, classified professional staff, administrators, College Police, and students Learn and interpret specific rules, laws, and policies and apply them in a variety of procedural situations Maintain records and prepare reports Demonstrate skill using technology and computer software appropriate to departmental functions, and provide leadership to department staff in the use of technology to assure the effectiveness and efficiency of departmental operations Plan and work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, administrators, staff, students and community members from multi-cultural, diverse backgrounds Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action Meet schedules and time lines; plan and organize work effectively Organize multiple projects and carry out required project details Evaluate department programs and functions and make recommendations for continuous quality improvement Organize and chair meetings, lead workshops, facilitate group discussions and involve staff in idea generation, goal setting and decision-making Communicate well in writing and orally, develop written reports and deliver oral presentations Lift 40 pounds Work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends A Bachelors degree Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in student services or related field.

    Pay Information:
    Range 9 ($4,715.54 $7,872.79) per month based on the current Supervisory and Professional Employees Association Salary Schedule A

    Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the SPAA Supervisory & Professional Administrators Association Handbook. This position is FLSA Exempt and may non accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
