The College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) at Northern Illinois University (NIU) has a highly regarded regional and national reputation for the quality of its graduates. Through its 21 programs, five schools, three health clinics, a child care center, a restaurant and over 700 practicum partners, the CHHS prepares tomorrows leaders in a variety of health and human service professions. Primary Function

The Associate Dean for Research and Administration (ADRA) is responsible for oversight and coordination of programs and activities that support research and operations of the College. TheADRAassists the Dean in administrative responsibilities centered around research, personnel, finance and facilities for the College.



Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as key member of the CHHS leadership team with responsibility for planning and implementing research priorities in the college through work with faculty, graduate students, potential faculty, and key university partners;

  • Serve as key leader assisting the dean regarding college finances including space and human resources through work with budget managers, faculty and staff, and key university partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Research intensive doctorate in a field related to CHHS disciplines;

  • History of excellence in research and graduate education;

  • Commitment to promoting diversity in hiring, retention and promotion;

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment with diverse stakeholders;

  • Strong quantitative data analysis skills;

  • Eligible for tenure.




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in academic administration, which includes experience with budget and personnel issues;

  • Experience seeking and securing external funding.




Salary: Commensurate with experience and internal equity; position includes eligible benefits.
