Associate Dean, Workforce and Community Development (full-time) WITC Superior Campus

General Information:
Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College seeking qualified applicants for the full-time management position of Associate Dean, Workforce and Community Development at the WITC Superior Campus.

Position Overview
The Associate Dean, Workforce and Community Development collaborates with team members and the Dean of Workforce and Community Development to conduct industry outreach and set revenue goals. The role requires interpersonal skills, salesmanship, and ingenuity to initiate and pursue sales leads. This Associate Dean establishes a customer base and develops strong external and internal relationships, providing and managing customized workforce training programs for business and industry to facilitate economic development.

  • Locate and acquire training contracts.
    • Meet with prospective new and/or expanding companies and agencies to present information regarding College workforce development offerings.
    • Inform industry leaders of potential grant and other funding opportunities. Aggressively seek ways to effectively serve companies through these programs.
  • Conduct needs assessments with employers and convert them into training opportunities.
    • Investigate and introduce new training programs and partnerships that will enhance the College role as provider of industry training while meeting client training objectives.
    • Coordinate opportunities among industry leaders with similar training needs within the district, sharing associated information and best practices.
  • Represent the college during on-site visits and functions affiliated with the Workforce Development and Advancement division.
    • Develop and maintain business relationships in designated WITC region by providing excellent customer service and follow-through as measured by divisional metrics.
    • Maintain relationships with economic development agencies, chambers, and similar organizations to assist with economic development efforts through participation in relevant community/district events and activities.
  • Assist in the recruitment and supervision of part-time instructors.
    • Recruit and evaluate potential instructors to provide effective instruction through customized training programs. Share instructor references with appropriate college colleagues to enhance their respective efforts
  • Produce and contribute to net revenue for the customized training division.
    • Achieve contract sales goals by developing clear and effective training plans, consistent with program requirements, which are cost effective and meet the needs of client companies.
    • Achieve contract sales goals establish by Workforce Development and Advancement division.
  • Maintain documentation of sales practices, outreach attempts, and communication with clients. Manage sales responsibilities and adhere to deadlines.
    • Utilize, update, and apply customer relationship management (CRM) system for contacts and contracts.
    • Update Workforce and Economic Development Dean and Continuing Education division regularly on opportunities and challenges for industry leaders regarding workforce development.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development.
    • Actively participate in training regarding the best strategies and techniques for increasing contract effectiveness and success rate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occassionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use or arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related area.
  • Two years (4,000 hours) occupational experience outside the area of education.
  • Proven revenue generation and business and industry sales experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured at acceptable levels to conduct required driving for position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing training programs for business and industry.
  • Two years (full-time equivalency) teaching or industry training experience.
  • Master's degree.
