Assistant or Associate Professor Position in Human Physiology (Tenure-Track)

The Department of Health and Human Physiology (HHP) (http://clas.uiowa.edu/hhp/) at The University of Iowa (http://www.uiowa.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Human Physiology. Candidates with strong translational research programs using human or animal models related to any of the following human diseases/conditions are invited to apply: cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological or immunological diseases, aging, hypertension, obesity or diabetes. In addition to faculty in HHP, there are outstanding opportunities for collaboration with faculty in the Abboud Cardiovascular Research Center, Fraternal Order of Eagles Research Center, Iowa Neuroscience Institute, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and research initiatives such as the Aging Mind and Brain Initiative, Obesity Research and Education Initiative and the Maternal Fetal Tissue Bank research program. There are also ample opportunities to collaborate with faculty in the Colleges of Medicine, Public Health, Engineering and Liberal Arts and Sciences. Outstanding research space are available in the Department of HHP and state-of-the-art core labs are in the adjacent Carver College of Medicine. Excellent clinical research space and infrastructure is available within the University of Iowa Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (http://icts.uiowa.edu/).

The successful candidate at the Assistant Professor level will possess a record of peer-reviewed publications in high quality scientific journals and strong evidence of ability to acquire external funding for research in human physiology related to any of the areas of human diseases/disorders listed above. A successful candidate at the Associate Professor level will have demonstrated sustained excellence in both peer-reviewed scholarly publications and in acquiring external extramural funding for a program of scholarly research in human physiology related to any of the areas of human diseases/disorders listed above. The candidate at either level will be expected to develop and sustain scholarly work yielding peer-reviewed scholarly publications, obtain extramural funding for research, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advise students, direct MS and PhD theses, and conduct professional and collegiate service activities. A relevant doctoral degree in Human Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Integrative Physiology, Applied Physiology or related field is required. Salary and start-up support will be highly competitive with other institutions. Positon will begin August 19, 2019.
