Responsibilities:
The Assistant Dean of Student Services in Bouve College provides executive level leadership, vision, direction, advocacy, and supervision for the Bouve Office of Student Services (OSS), a comprehensive student success center that houses two fast-paced and vibrant units:

Undergraduate Office of Student Services - The administrative management of effective academic advising, student success, and recruitment/retention/services for all undergraduate students (currently about 2500 students); and a staff of 9, including academic advisors/coordinators in Boston, MA (main office), the Charlotte, NC Campus, and Burlington, MA Campus.

Office of Graduate Student Services - Planning, developing, organizing, supervising and evaluating all segments of graduate student services unit serving graduate students (currently about 3000 students); and a professional staff of 2 & 3 graduate advisors.

The Assistant Dean is responsible for all segments of undergraduate and graduate student advising programs and student success initiatives with an outcome of achieving Northeastern University's student retention and graduation targets in line with NU2025: https://www.northeastern.edu/academic-plan/plan/. This includes advising; programming (integrative experiential education, lifelong learning, global and mobility opportunities, research and discovery) in the context of interdisciplinary and interprofessional educational; career services and professional development.

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and in coordination with Unit Leaders (Department Chairs and School Deans), the Assistant Dean has direct responsibility for daily operations and financial performance of the Student Services team. This position interfaces with all offices across campus and requires an individual who can work independently and creatively to manage a complex work group.

The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Department Chairs and School Deans to develop/refine strategic plan and long-term plans; lead or support efforts to drive desired operational changes and performance improvements. They will set benchmarks and goals for undergraduate and graduate student retention, graduation and success and support programs; ensure that academic progression policies are implemented in accordance with faculty's academic plan and NU policies from the time students are admitted or transfer into Bouve programs, during orientation, throughout students' program of studies until graduation. The Assistant Dean will collaborate with representatives from Enrollment Management and the academic programs to support undergraduate and graduate academic advisors in recruitment, admissions and convocation or graduation activities as appropriate. The Student Services team will manage undergraduate and graduate data in collaboration with the Bouve College Director of Data Management and Analysis and will use software applications such as ARGOS, SalesForce, Banner, EAB Navigate and Student Success Collaborative to identify and track patterns and outcomes to support College goals.

Qualifications:
The candidate should demonstrate a record of professional growth, development, and a commitment to working with a diverse population of faculty, students and staff. The position requires vision, innovation, creativity, communication skills, leadership, and a broad range of decision-making ability in a complex multi-layered fast paced environment.

Master's degree is required, PhD or EdD preferred, in a professional health career, higher education or related field. Candidate must also have:

A minimum of 8 years of experience in a management level position in an institution of higher education.

Excellent organizational skills, strong customer service orientation and collaborative attitude, and ability to work effectively in an independent and interdependent setting. Must be able to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines and to be able to work well in complex organizations.

Ability to lead and motivate teams of academic advisors.

Current knowledge of professional literature related to retention and student development and trends in higher education student demographics for undergraduate and graduate (MS and PhD) students.

An understanding of and experience with advising undergraduate (including first year students) and graduate students and ability to design, assess and improve effective programs, recruitment and retention initiatives.

Experience developing and implementing new systems, programs and strategies.

Ability to collaborate effectively and create and maintain work teams.

Proficiency with technology used to enhance advising and office management and communication including MS Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive
