Short Description:
Frostburg State University is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps member to support and enhance the University's Read to Succeed literacy program. The focus of the program is to engage K-8 youth in academic enrichment and mentoring that improve academic performance. Contingent upon final funding. Funded in part by the Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Benefits:
Description of Ongoing/New Duties:
Training of all volunteers and service members
Recruitment of children to participate in the program
Placement and pairing of volunteers and service mentors
Administering pre and post assessments at multiple sites
Complete monthly report as assigned by ASTAR and the National Service Coordinator
Volunteer Recruitment of Mentors
General Volunteer Recruitment and tracking for designated ASTAR and OCE events
Tracking of all volunteers, children, and results
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident
Strong communication skills
College Graduate (experience in the field may substitute education requirement)
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
Valid Drivers License and access to reliable transportation
Position contingent upon background check clearance
