    Job Summary

    Under general supervision of the Accessible Technology Coordinator, the Accessible Procurement Consultant will evaluate the accessibility of various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) products prior to requisition by CSUSB. This process involves collecting and validating Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) documents for accuracy from a variety of sources, including the product vendor.

    The incumbent will maintain timely communication with outside vendors and ensure that the accessibility review process continues on a punctual timeline. This involves reviewing revised accessibility documentation, communication via email and telephone, web conferences, etc., and setting follow-up timelines to keep the vendor responsive along the process. As needed, the incumbent will set up vendor demonstrations to ascertain the accessibility of product or system and conduct annual review of vendor progress at time of purchase renewal to ensure accessibility conformance or achievement of goals as outlined on vendor roadmap. The incumbent will coordinate product demonstrations and conduct usability testing on high impact products with assistive technology. Results will be documented for archival purposes and reported to applicable parties.

    For ICT product purchases that have accessibility issues, the incumbent will be responsible for creating an EEAAP document to outline the institution response, should an individual with a disability require access to a product or system that is inaccessible.

    The incumbent will assist in reporting on workflow and success metrics and provide and/or collaborate on a range of reporting to the Accessible Technology Coordinator, Accessible Technology Initiative Steering Committee, CSUSB Auditor, ADA Compliance Officer and CSUSB Risk Manager as required.

    Participation in various subcommittees and working groups, including systemwide community of practice conference calls, will be required. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other Accessible Technology Services staff.

    Employment Status: Full time, Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

    Required Application Materials

    Work Schedule
    • Generally, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some weekends and evenings may be required.

    Key Qualifications
    • Working knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite.
    • Working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.
    • Ability to communicate accessibility requirements to purchase requesters and the campus community at-large.
    • Ability to work with vendors, including the ability to recognize areas of improvement in vendor responses.
    • Familiarity with Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs)/Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs).
    • Knowledge of various state and federal legislation that pertain to accessibility, including WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
    • Familiarity with assistive technologies.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with constituents with diverse priorities.
    • Excellent time management, prioritization, and follow-up skills to ensure workflow progression within stated deadlines.
    • Working knowledge of accessibility best practices and a familiarity with assistive technologies. Additionally, the incumbent shall have a working knowledge of disability laws and accessibility guidelines including the ADA, Section 508, EO 111, and UDL principles and best practices.

    Education and Experience: Required and Preferred
    • The equivalent to Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in computer science, information systems or in a closely related field or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.

    Preferred Requirements:
    • Two years of experience directly validating VPAT documents and ability to demonstrate an understanding of VPAT nomenclature, including applicable knowledge of related 508 sections as they relate to the accessibility of Information Communications Technology (ICT) products.
    • Strong technology skills along with an understanding of the procurement processes as it relates to the purchase of ICT as well as an understanding of WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
    • Certified with Trusted Tester and/or Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC).



    Salary

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $52,464 - $66,000 per year

    Classification Range: $52,464 - $129,504 per year
