Position Overview:
The Academic Support Teaching Assistant requires an individual with the ability to operate independently while providing assistance to the instructional process in accordance with the educational objectives of the College. Responsibilities include reinforcing instructional concepts, demonstrating activities, and developing materials and resources. The teacher assistant must have the ability to conduct classes with supervision and to work effectively with students, faculty, and other staff.

The Academic Support Teaching Assistant will have direct responsibility for Academic Support on the Superior Campus which includes but not limited to scheduling, registering, purchasing, grant reporting, and tutor coordination.

Qualifications:
1. Two years related post-secondary education and four years related work experience. Bachelors Degree preferred.
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
3. Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of accounting and financial systems.
5. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet software, PowerPoint, etc.
6. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
7. Ability to obtain drivers license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy.

Physical Demands:
Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing required only occasionally.

Job Description:

  • Assess customer needs at the Superior Campus and advise currently enrolled, new, and potential students with referrals to campus resources, assessment, admissions, orientation, and registration processes and guidelines.
  • Assist students with registration process including completion of forms; following up when necessary.
  • Maintain and verify the data in the Client Report System (CRS) required for grant reporting.
  • Compose, prepare, edit/proofread, and distribute correspondence, minutes, reports, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet and/or database software.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and the administration to facilitate organizational goals and provide effective services to students.
  • Design, develop, and update promotional brochures, flyers, forms, and other materials.
  • Organize, establish and maintain electronic databases and filing systems.
  • Provide information and assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Participate on campus, collegewide, and state teams and committees.
  • Provide specialized knowledge and training to other team members.
  • Actively collaborate with Academic Support staff to provide services.
  • Develop and maintain business processes and procedures for the Academic Support Center.
  • Manage internal budgets in regards to supplies and office operations.
  • Other related job duties as assigned.
