The Senior Vice Chancellor for Operations (SVCO) department at CU Boulder invites applications for a Graphic Designer! This position serves as a key member of the Division of Operations Marketing and Communications team, supporting strategic communication, marketing, engagement, and brand initiatives across the division. Operations Division units include Employee Health and Well-Being (EHWB), Human Resources (HR), the Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Office of Information Technology (OIT), and the Office of Compliance, Ethics and Policy (OCEP). Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, this position develops compelling visual communications that elevate awareness of operational services, support institutional priorities, and strengthen engagement with students, faculty, staff, campus partners, and external partners.
The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and producing high-quality print and digital materials that communicate the impact, services, and mission of the Division of Operations. This position collaborates closely with communication professionals, divisional leadership, subject matter experts, and campus partners to translate complex operational concepts into clear, engaging, and audience-focused visual content.
This is a professional position requiring independent judgment, strong creative and technical design skills, and the ability to supervise multiple projects in a dynamic, service-focused environment.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Creative Design and Visual Communications:
- Develop creative concepts and design solutions that support the Division of Operations' communication and marketing objectives.
- Design and produce a broad range of print and digital materials, including publications, annual reports, brochures, signage, presentations, infographics, event materials, advertisements, email graphics, websites, social media assets, and internal communication resources.
- Create visual content that effectively communicates operational services, capital projects, sustainability initiatives, campus infrastructure improvements, public safety programs, and other divisional priorities.
- Translate technical or complex information into accessible and visually engaging communications.
- Ensure all creative deliverables align with University of Colorado Boulder brand standards and divisional communication approaches.
- Prepare production-ready files and supervise quality assurance for print and digital deliverables.
- Apply ADA and accessibility standards to all design work, ensuring materials are inclusive and compliant across print and digital formats.
Brand Stewardship and Strategic Communications Support:
- Serve as a visual brand ambassador for the Division of Operations and the University of Colorado Boulder.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications to implement divisional communication strategies and campaigns.
- Maintain consistency across divisional communication channels and marketing materials.
- Provide design consultation and creative guidance to divisional units and campus partners.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of visual storytelling approaches that support central initiatives.
Project Management and Collaboration:
- Supervise multiple concurrent projects from concept through completion while balancing priorities, timelines, and partner needs.
- Partner with divisional leaders, project managers, communicators, photographers, videographers, vendors, and subject matter experts to develop effective communication solutions.
- Participate in campaign planning, creative reviews, and communication strategy discussions.
- Coordinate production schedules and vendor relationships as needed to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with industry trends, design technologies, accessibility standards, and emerging communication practices.
- Recommend improvements to creative processes, workflows, templates, and visual communication standards.
- Support ongoing efforts to enhance the effectiveness and impact of divisional marketing and communication initiatives.
What We Can Offer
- The annual salary range for this full-time position is $60,000-$70,000.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- 1+ years of progressive professional graphic design experience, including demonstrated experience producing print and digital materials across multiple formats and channels.
What You Will Need
Design and Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and other suite applications relevant to print and digital design workflows.
- Strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, branding, and visual hierarchy.
- Knowledge of print production, digital design, and content optimization across platforms.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ADA and web accessibility standards as applied to visual and digital design, including color contrast, alt text considerations, and accessible document formatting.
- Ability to create visually compelling and audience-centered communication materials.
