Under the direction of the EOPS Director, this position assists with facilitating program goals to support the access, retention and completion of EOPS and Special Population Programs; Special Population Programs include CARE, NextUp, FAST Scholars, Borderless Scholars and Project Restart. Uses innovative practices to advance department initiatives, as well as the College's Student Success and Equity efforts; compile and analyze data and prepare reports; assist with monthly budget analysis and budget projection; interpret college procedures and academic policies and assist students in the program enrollment and to successfully reach their educational goals, plan, recruit and organize program activities. This position will also provide training and work direction to student staff as needed and will work closely with Mesa College students, staff, faculty, outside agencies, and community partners.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the processing of applications to assess students' eligibility into of EOPS and Special Population Programs.
  • Maintains current knowledge of EOPS and Special Population Programs related policies, practices and guidelines through training and communication with appropriate agencies.
  • Monitors and maintains complex student files to ensure compliance with college, district, and state policies and guidelines.
  • Utilizes computer skills to compile data and prepare reports, develop electronic communications such as hard copy and e-newsletters, websites, presentations, surveys, spreadsheets, evaluations and marketing materials to facilitate student recruitment and retention.
  • Coordinates college activities designed to assist students entering college and successfully pursue their educational goals. Assists in the planning, organizing and implementation of program practices, procedures, and activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to students and campus community regarding standards of academic progress and follow-up services.
  • Assist Director with budget monitoring and projection.
  • Trains and provides work direction to staff and student workers as appropriate.
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, administrators, outside agencies, and community partners.
  • Conducts program and work-study orientations and informational sessions regarding program services, personal development and employment.
  • Participates in on-site and off-site meetings, training's and conferences representing program(s).

Interpret and explain rules, regulations, procedures, policies and catalogs regarding student admission, transcript evaluation, prerequisite requirements and special regulations. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Update files and records. Meet schedules and timelines. Plan and organize work. Maintain confidential and complex files and records. Work independently with little direction. Compile data and prepare reports. Assist program directors with budget analysis and projection. Assist program directors with planning and improvement of procedures. Initiate actions and apply necessary department resources to accomplish tasks. Lift and/or transport objects of 35 lbs.

    Pay Information:
    Range 23 $3,717.84 $5,934.51 per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule.

    Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
