Network Systems Analyst II

Brief Position Overview
This position will be responsible for the administration, design, maintenance, and support of the Great Falls College MSU network and telecommunications systems.

Position Details
General Statement
This position works within the Great Falls College MSU IT Services department as support for the network and telecommunication systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
Maintaining the operational readiness of the Great Falls College MSU network at the main campus as well as affiliated sites; maintaining and upgrading the network core, switches, routers, and several network management devices (e.g. firewall devices, DHCP server, wireless controller, NAS devices, etc.); installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting network switches and other supporting peripherals; maintaining and troubleshooting telecommunications systems; managing, maintaining, upgrading, and wiring the physical cable plant (Ethernet (Cat 5/ Cat 6), fiber optic (single and multimode), FCOE, and phone lines); ensuring quality technical support, reliable connectivity, and the operational readiness of our enterprise services; and performing related work as required.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Associate degree in computer science, networking, or a related technical field plus two years of full time (or part-time equivalent) network administration experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

A current industry recognized certification relating to networking. (ie. CCNA, Network+, etc.).

Experience administering, designing, troubleshooting, and supporting critical network systems in a production environment and solving complex networking, operating system and software problems to ensure maximum system security, reliability and availability.

Experience managing larger networks across multiple locations using networking standards, protocols such as DHCP, etc and security best practices, and the configuration and deployment of various network attached devices such as network switches, wireless access points, etc.

Experience with and knowledge of client/server technology, such as DNS, Active Directory, VPN, LDAP, etc.

Experience with configuring, upgrading, and maintaining Cisco IOS software on network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.).

Experience with installing, terminating, and wiring physical cable plant infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science, networking, or a related technical field plus two years of full time (or part-time equivalent) network administration experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience Managing Cisco VoIP with CUCM and CUC.

Experience with and knowledge of advanced network protocols and configurations such as IPV6, Fiber Channel, VPC, VSS, etc.

Experience with configuring, upgrading, and maintaining Cisco devices using NX-OS, AsyncOS, ASA/ASDM, and FXOS.

Experience with virtual networks, fabric interconnects FCOE, and ISCSI.

Current certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.

Familiarity and knowledge of network security, intrusion detection systems, and network vulnerability and security scanners.

Special Requirements
Required to be on-call in case of system failures or outages.

Will be required to wear safety gear as needed.

Must possess a valid driver's license and meet all State of Montana requirements to operate State/University vehicles.

Physical Demands
Must be able to stand, walk, or move about for long periods of time push, pull, lift, bend, craw, move up and down stairs, go up and down a step ladder, be comfortable getting in and out of tight spaces, and be comfortable working at heights.

Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis. Less frequently may be required to lift up to 75 pounds.

Will occasionally work outside and in inclement weather.
