The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Lab Technician / Chemistry in the Chemistry Department, located at Miramar College. Position is 40 hours per week. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs. Assignment may include evenings and/or Saturdays.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Major Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Strong foundation in both general and organic chemistry.

Experience with handling and caring of chemicals.

Substantial laboratory experience.

Operational knowledge of equipment and instrumentation used in college-level chemistry such as computer-based data collection, NMR, GC, FTIR, etc.

Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation.

Ability to plan and work independently.

Ability to follow schedules, meet deadlines, and work as part of a team.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

AS degree in chemistry with two years laboratory work experience or BS in chemistry minimum.

Licenses:

Pay Information:
Range 24 $3,929.31 $6,272.06 per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
