The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Lab Technician / Chemistry in the Chemistry Department, located at Miramar College. Position is 40 hours per week. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs. Assignment may include evenings and/or Saturdays.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.


Major Responsibilities:


Qualifications:
  • Strong foundation in both general and organic chemistry.
  • Experience with handling and caring of chemicals.
  • Substantial laboratory experience.
  • Operational knowledge of equipment and instrumentation used in college-level chemistry such as computer-based data collection, NMR, GC, FTIR, etc.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ability to plan and work independently.
  • Ability to follow schedules, meet deadlines, and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • AS degree in chemistry with two years laboratory work experience or BS in chemistry minimum.

  • Licenses:


    Pay Information:
    Range 24 $3,929.31 $6,272.06 per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule.

    Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
