The Employee Services Department of the San Diego Community College
District's Human Resources Division encompasses Employment, Payroll, Payroll Accounting, Retirement Services, Benefits, and HR Systems. It is a dynamic group comprised of skilled professionals from a diverse background. The 25+ employee department services over 6,500 District employees, including faculty, classified staff, and student employees.

We work closely with other departments within our division and are in a critical stage of our PeopleSoft implementation. From an HR perspective, HCM is in its infancy still and we are looking to add members to our team that can further our mission to excellence by providing fresh ideas to streamline processes, improve customer service, increase efficiency, and expand our involvement with the campus business offices to drive better end results for our staff and students.

Applications are currently being accepted for Human Resources Technician in the Employee Services Department, located at SDCCD's District Office in Mission Valley. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Qualifications:
  • Community college or higher education experience preferred
  • PeopleSoft experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform highly technical functions including contract interpretation, salary and benefit surveys and analysis, and payroll and cost analysis
  • Self motivated with initiative to assess and recommend process improvement
  • Bachelor degree preferred but not required
  • Relevant work experience required; this is not an entry level position

    Pay Information:
    Range 23 $3,717.84 $5,934.51 per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule.

    Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
