Detailed Description:
The Assistant Director of Employer Relations reports to the Senior Director of the Career Development Center. This professional is key in serving to develop and strengthen employer relationships with the goal of increasing internship and employment opportunities for USD students and alumni. In collaboration with Senior Director of the Career Development Center, the Assistant Director of Employer Relations develops and implements a strategic employer engagement strategy to cultivate new employer relationships and expand existing employer partnerships. The Assistant Director will collaborate with Career Development Center staff to provide students with the opportunity to connect with employers, parents. and alumni via various networking events, career fairs, employer visits, and workshops. The Assistant Director is responsible for Employer Relations budget and statistics related to overall employer and alumni engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Employer Outreach and Relationship Management
In collaboration with the Senior Director of the Career Development Center develops a strategic employer development and outreach plan.
Identifies, cultivates and establishes relationships with new companies and strengthens existing employer relationships to increase employer participation in programming and job and internship opportunities for USD students.
Creates new relationships that broaden USD's impact across the US, inviting employers to connect with students and alumni through virtual mentor and interview sessions.
Conducts frequent phone meetings and site visits with new and existing employers to better understand company, working environment, and hiring needs. Consults with recruiters regarding their recruiting strategies at USD.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date relationship management notes through the Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) system.
Participates in the professional industry and networking events to initiate contact with potential employers and stay abreast of hiring trends.
Represents USD at regional and national meetings, conferences and on committees, as needed or as requested by the Senior Director.
Employer, Alumni and Parent Relations Programming
Conceptualizes opportunities to connect students with employers and alumni through experiential learning opportunities and other events, including career fairs, networking events, site visits, and guest speakers.
In collaboration with career counselors, works to connect employers, parents and alumni directly to students through networking events, student organization meetings, workshops, and other student programming.
In collaboration with the Senior Coordinator of Experiential Learning Programs, coordinates Torero Trek program, providing students with the opportunity to participate in site visits and network with employers in a variety of industries in multiple geographic locations.
In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Alumni Career Engagement, assists with an alumni mentor program to connect students with alumni in their field of interest.
Develops and manages an Alumni Mentor LinkedIn group to provide students with the opportunity to connect and network with USD alumni.
Collaborates with the Alumni Association and Parent Relations to coordinate alumni and parent participation in career exploration panels and networking events for students.
Creates and directs an employer advisory board, the Parent Career Network, and alumni initiatives that would promote the hiring of USD students.
Supervision
Manages and provides leadership to Employer Experience Specialist.
Professional Development
Sets and meets professional objectives that enhance Career Services and maintains the professional reputation of the department and the university.
Serves as a liaison to professional associations to stay abreast of current developments in career counseling and employment trends (Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employer, National Association of Colleges and Employers).
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and at least three years of experience in sales/business development, recruiting or human resources.
Professional demeanor and demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining positive relationships.
Exceptional relationship management skills that have produced successful and measurable results
Demonstrated excellence in tracking and maintaining relationship management initiatives
Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education, Business Administration or Human Resources strongly preferred.
Experience in higher education career services environment is preferred.
Proven experience with Handshake, Symplicity or similar CSM software.
Proven experience with Salesforce

Experience with Handshake, Salesforce, CRM software preferred.
