The Department of Health and Human Physiology (HHP) ( at The University of Iowa ( invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a focus in Sensorimotor Neuroscience as it relates to neurological diseases affecting motor and/or cognitive functions. Candidates with strong research programs studying any area of Sensorimotor Neuroscience including but not limited to stroke, Parkinson's Disease, multiple sclerosis, obesity, diabetes and aging are invited to apply. There are other outstanding opportunities for collaboration with faculty in the recently established University of Iowa Neuroscience Institute ( and research initiatives such as the Aging Mind and Brain Initiative ( and Obesity Research and Education Initiative ( There are also ample opportunities to collaborate with faculty in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience and in the Colleges of Medicine (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, Internal Medicine, etc.), Public Health, Engineering and Liberal Arts and Sciences. Outstanding research space with state-of-the-art core labs are available in the Department and in the adjacent Carver College of Medicine, and excellent clinical research infrastructure is available in the University of Iowa Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (

The successful candidate at the Assistant Professor level will possess a record of peer-reviewed publications in high quality scientific journals and strong evidence of ability to acquire external funding for research in any area Sensorimotor Neuroscience related to neurological diseases. A successful candidate at the Associate Professor level will have demonstrated excellence in peer-reviewed scholarly publications and in acquiring external extramural funding for a program of scholarly research in one of the areas of sensorimotor neuroscience listed above. The candidate at either level will be expected to develop and sustain scholarly work yielding peer-reviewed scholarly productivity, obtain extramural funding for research, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advise students, direct MS and PhD theses, and conduct professional and collegiate service activities. A relevant doctoral degree is required and salary and start-up support will be highly competitive with other institutions. Position will begin August 16, 2018.
