The San Jose/Evergreen Community College District is currently recruiting for a Jaguar Market & Food Rescue/Distribution Service Assistant in the Academic Success and Student Equity department at the San Jose City College Campus.  This is a temporary assignment through June 30, 2027.

Hourly pay is $25.00. Working hours are Monday -- Friday, 8:00 AM -- 5:00 PM.

Position Summary

Under the direction of assigned administrator, performs a variety of work in the operation and maintenance of the Jaguar Market on campus, including inventory replenishment and control, and Food Rescue and Distribution on campus and off campus. This position is allocated a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
                                                

1. Follow established protocols to intake and off-campus donations of food and other items from partners to ensure a well-stocked Jaguar Market. 
2. Identify and fulfill inventory needs.
3. Schedule and perform routine and special deliveries of supplies.
4. Analyze space usage for maximum utilization.  Confer with other staff as needed to determine storage space requirements and optimum stock quantities.
5. Operate college equipment and vehicles including trucks and other tools.
6. Assist with the proper disposal of unused or unusable inventory.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

3.     Math skills to perform counts and analyze trends.

4.     Modern office practices, methods, and computer equipment

Skills and Abilities to:

1.     Schedule work activities in a manner conducive to optimum service.

2.     Plan, prioritize and perform work in order to meet schedules and timelines.

3.     Observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required.

4.     Coordinate and perform physical inventory counts.

5.     Maintain records and document transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

1.     High school diploma or equivalent required.

2.     Experience in a retail, warehouse, or shipping/receiving setting is preferred.

Licenses and Certificates:

1.     Possession of a valid class C California driver's license.

Working Conditions

Environment:

1.     Driving a vehicle to conduct work.

2.     Cafeteria-style environment; noise level is moderate to loud.

3.     Dust, noise and fumes from equipment operation.

Physical Demands:

1.     Stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds on a sustained basis.

2.     May stoop, kneel and crouch.

3.     Require leg and foot dexterity to operate vehicle gas and brakes while driving.

4.     Require sufficient hand-eye coordination, arm hand dexterity and visual acuity including depth perception to drive delivery vehicle and read numbers and words.

5.     Require the ability to operate a hand truck.
