The Position:
The Administrative Services division at Miramar College is seeking a motivated and energetic team player with excellent communication skills for the position of Administrative Technician in the Business Office. The Administrative Technician works with all divisions of the college as well as the general public. Responsibilities of this position include the on-boarding process of new hires, validating and ensuring proper payroll activities, budget validation and journal entries, taking minutes, facility rentals, and interpreting and applying policies and procedure. Desired qualities for this position include outstanding customer service, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills.

The Administrative Services division is comprised of Personnel & Payroll, Budget, Purchasing & Travel Support, Reprographics & Mailroom, Stockroom & Receiving, Student Accounting, and Hourglass Park & Aquatic Center. Administrative Services is central to the operations of the college and is regarded within the District and the community for its high standards of service.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience in handling and processing payroll (contract and/or hourly). Effective written communication skills as shown by proper use of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to work independently, complete assignments and meet deadlines with fluctuating priorities and frequent interruptions, while working in a busy environment. Knowledge and experience in the operations of mainframe and microcomputers utilizing accounting information systems, databases, spreadsheets and word processing software. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Experience preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes. Experience in establishing and maintaining complex, organized filing and records maintenance systems. Ability to research and prepare internal reports. Ability to interact effectively with faculty and staff, to communicate effectively, and the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Understanding of, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Experience handling general accounting functions. Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge in working with individuals of great diversity in socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.

Pay Information:
Range 22 $3,602.98 $5,751.17 per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
