Inver Hills Community College announces a national search for a Vice President of Student Affairs.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Student Affairs will develop a strategic vision for and lead the college’s Student Affairs functions including recruitment, admissions, enrollment services/registration, strategic enrollment management planning, financial aid, student employment, counseling, advising, transfer, career services, student life, diversity and disability services, student success and retention initiatives including TRIO and Perkins.

As the Chief Student Affairs Officer this position, together with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Vice President of Administrative Services/Chief Financial Officer, serves on the President’s Executive Team. The Vice Presidents of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs jointly lead Inver Hills’ Academic Quality Improvement Program—the college’s method of accreditation--and its Institutional Effectiveness Council

Inver Hills serves 7000 credit-seeking students each semester, and 10,000 Continuing Education/Customized Training students annually.  The successful candidate will join a financially sound college, with a Fiscal Year 2012 operating budget of $32 million, which is approximately 60% funded by tuition and fees.   Inver Hills is one of 32 community colleges, technical colleges and state universities that comprise the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

Salary:  $77,581-$124,133 depending on education and related experience.

Responsibilities:
•        Develop a strategic vision for and provide leadership to Student Affairs functions.
•        Jointly with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, lead the college’s Academic Quality Improvement Program, strategic planning, and Institutional Effectiveness Council.
•        Participate as a member of the President’s Executive Team in collaborative decision-making.
•        Oversee the college’s Strategic Enrollment Management initiatives.
•        Develop and manage the annual Student Affairs budget (currently $3.5 million) and staffing plan.
•        Facilitate, in concert with Academic Affairs, K-12 partnerships.
•        Supervise Student Affairs staff which includes a Dean of Students and Enrollment Management, and approximately 52 unlimited employees (supervisors, staff, and faculty counselors).
•        Collaborate with Academic Affairs, and other colleges and agencies to create and advocate for innovative programs and services for underrepresented students.
•        Identify grant opportunities; manage student services grant budgets and reporting.
•        Promote a campus culture which is welcoming and accessible to Inver Hills’ diverse student body.
•        Develop and administer college policies and procedures in accordance with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, state, and federal policies.
•        Represent the college and participate on Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and external committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
•        Master’s in Educational Leadership, College Student Personnel or a related field, and five years of progressively responsible experience including supervisory experience in student affairs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•        A proven track record of cross-campus collaboration (i.e., with students, faculty and staff; Academic Affairs, Finance, and the Foundation).
•        Experience in strategic planning and budgeting.
•        Experience working in a strategic enrollment management environment.
•        Ability to successfully manage within fiscal limitations in a time of fluctuating enrollment.
•        Experience partnering with K-12 systems and baccalaureate institutions.
•        An understanding of and commitment to continuous quality improvement, particularly as it relates to the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP).
•        Ability to work with all members of the College community to promote the development of students both inside and outside of the classroom – a “students first” philosophy.
•        Skills in utilizing data-informed decision-making techniques.
•        Ability to approach decision-making from a college-wide perspective.
•        Ability to advocate for, relate to, and interact with students.
•        Demonstrated commitment to enhance diversity efforts.
•        Experience working in a shared governance environment.
•        Demonstrated commitment to the value of a comprehensive community college; a history of advocacy on behalf of public education.
•        Proficiency in written and oral communications, including public speaking.
•        Integrity, humility, boldness, and candor.

Preferred Qualifications:
•        Doctorate in Educational Leadership;
•        Experience supervising employees in a union environment.
