Description & Requirement

The Technical Coordinator is responsible to the Assistant Director of Textbooks for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the UMUC World-wide E-chapter Program. In this capacity the Technical Coordinator will work closely with Graduate School of Management and Technology, School of Undergraduate Studies, Europe, and Asia to: (1) identity the required first three textbooks chapters all their respective courses; (2) submit a request to the applicable publishers for the PDF files of the required chapters; (3) create in-house PDF files of the chapters not received from publishers from textbooks hardcopies; (4) maintain the update as required the UMUC World-wide E-chapter website to assure currency of all e-chapters.   Specific responsibilities include:

•        Working with Graduate School of Management and Technology, School of Undergraduate Studies, Europe, and Asia to determine the required e-chapters                                                            

•        Submitting request to publishers of PDF files of the required chapters                                                    
•        Receiving, reviewing, and posting publishers PDF files and images on the World-wide E-chapter website

•        Creating in-house from hardcopy textbooks PDF files of any chapters not received from publishers and posting with images on the World-wide E-chapter website

•        Maintaining and updating the UMUC World-wide website chapters as required

•        Performing other job-related duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of administrative and/or technical experience is required.  Successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to understand and maintain a PDF web base system.  Good organizational skills and attention to detail is a must.  Successful candidate should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and FrontPage/Dreamweaver, and have the ability to manage large system based projects.  Two years working in a website or related technical area and prior experience with Textbooks is preferred.  Technical Certifications are also preferred.
