Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
Responsibilities: Maintain Community Standards and Safety: - Understand, support, abide by, and enforce the community lease policies while providing unparalleled Customer Service and respect for residents - Understand and abide by all ACC policies and procedures - Be familiar with the General Maintenance policies and procedures and be available to assist in after hours Maintenance emergencies - Assist in keeping the community clean by surveying common areas regularly, reporting any concerns and/or helping with the clean up when necessary - Report any life Safety hazard or Maintenance concern encountered while on or off duty - Understand, communicate, and enforce community Safety, emergency, and fire evacuation policies and procedures, providing emergency response and referral services and resources - Document behaviors using the incident report form of residents that violate the law or the ACC lease agreement, and take appropriate action to stop the behavior Perform Administrative Tasks: - Maintain a set number of hours a week in the Office with the majority of the hours scheduled during regular Office hours - exact number of hours and schedule determined with Supervisor. - Work assigned Community/Resident Assistant On-Call shifts, which may include evenings, weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays - American Campus Communities reserves the right to alter duty schedules, and areas of responsibility as needed in order to best serve the needs of the company, residents and community. - Assist the Management Staff in the Marketing and leasing efforts to maximize the community s occupancy - Participate fully in the preparation and Administration of Move In and Move Out - Complete room/apartment inventories, key checks and common area inventories - Check in at the community Office and check email regularly - Complete and submit required materials in a timely manner - Distribute materials and messages from or approved by the General Manager - Facilitate the Administration of Customer Service Survey - Accurately conduct student census as needed Be a Team Player: - Assist with the Planning and implementation of CA/RA training and in-services in fall, spring, and summer. The Senior CA/RA might be asked to train on selected topics. - Assist with orientation of new CA/RA Staff hired during the course of the semester - Attend, and constructively contribute to, all Staff meetings and any special/emergency meetings. - Assist with the Planning and implementation of periodic Staff development activities. - Assist with the Marketing for openings in the CA/RA Staff, interviewing candidates, and selecting new hires. - Coordinate the CA/RA on call schedule and keeping it updated, which includes but not limited to, making schedule changes and collecting days off requests. - Assist with the CA/RA evaluation process by providing input and feedback about each CA/RA pertaining to job responsibilities. - Act as a liaison between the residents and the Maintenance, Marketing, and business Office Staff. - Maintain a professional attitude and manner in your work relationships We expect that your position as a Senior CA/RA will come second only to class work. Please be advised that your participation in any additional activities (i.e. clubs, other jobs, Sports, etc.) will need to be approved by your Supervisor. Also, at any time should your involvement in additional activities inhibit your ability to perform your job responsibilities, your Supervisor reserves the right to deny participation in one or all of the activities. Develop a Sense of Community: - Responsible for coordinating, Planning, and implementing the efforts for the large scale programs and make sure CA/RA Staff contribute - Develop a sense among the residents and Staff that the community is the place to be - Mediate conflict and help residents to create a respectful living community - Contribute to the community newsletter - Become acquainted with and available to each student in the assigned area - Facilitate area meetings for General communication, sharing information, or generating enthusiasm for participation in community events - Encourage residents to attend and /or participate in community and university sponsored events - Know the appropriate university offices and resources for student referrals - Encourage the respect for and appreciation of individual differences - Continually model appropriate behavior as a Representative of your community and ACC Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are Representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: - A degree in progress from an accredited college or university. Must maintain at least 9 hours of enrollment each academic term throughout employment, unless in final term before graduation. Must have and maintain a 2.25 GPA throughout employment. Verification of GPA will be required each semester. These are minimum credit hour and GPA requirements. Depending on the unique needs of your community and the expectations of your affiliated university, your Regional and General Managers may require more credit hours and a higher GPA. - Experience and /or skills in leadership, residence life, wellness programming, events Planning, crisis prevention and intervention Accommodation: Community Assistants are required to sign a lease Contract and live on-site for the duration of their employment. Should employment terminate for any reason, Management, in its sole discretion, shall determine if the employee will be released from the lease Contract.
