Description & Requirement

The University of Florida School of Art and Art History invites applications for a one-semester Visiting Assistant Professor position in Sculpture. Position dates: August 16, 2012 –December 31, 2012.

Rank and salary: Visiting Assistant Professor; full time, non-tenure accruing, one semester appointment.

Responsibilities: To teach 2 sculpture courses, ”Materials and Methods” and “Concepts and Strategies”, and/or another assignment as determined by the School Director, supervise graduate independent study students; and contribute to the sculpture program, school, and university in the area of service. Candidates must demonstrate a broad knowledge of sculpture (material, technique, form, content) and be able to articulate contemporary, historical and conceptual issues. College level teaching experience required.

Minimum Qualifications: MFA or equivalent professional experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to individuals with a strong record of creative achievement and professional exhibition/publication record and evidence of college teaching effectiveness. Teaching experience beyond graduate assistantship also preferred.
