Description & Requirement

The Research Associate is responsible for data analysis in relation to mission critical research projects in the areas of academic success, outcomes assessment, online pedagogy, and evaluation.  The Research Associate is expected to work on projects that cover a range of issues in higher education and distance learning formats, student’s learning, retention and success, the application of effective teaching and learning principles to classroom and distance instructional strategies, and characteristics of effective online teaching.  Specific responsibilities include:

•        Implementing psychometric procedures and assuring the veracity of tests, analytical methods and results; designing, overseeing, and performing classical and IRT item analyses, equating studies, validity studies, sampling plans, and special statistical analyses

•        Accurately analyzing, interpreting, and clearly communicating test results

•        Working with curriculum and assessment specialists in developing tests and test items

•        Conducting all aspects of quantitative and qualitative research in support of the office’s research including study design, instrument development, data collection and analysis, and writing

•        Supporting senior researchers with data gathering, data management, and data analysis activities related to projects

•        Staying abreast of current academic literature and research and evaluation and assessment studies which are relevant to our mission and practices

•        Performing other job-related duties as assigned

Requires Master’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years experience in the areas of education research, evaluation, or assessment. Qualified candidate will have a working knowledge of psychometric procedures, research methods and statistical techniques/procedures; skill in the use of statistical packages for data management and analysis purposes (preferably SAS);  the ability to present statistical data in appropriate formats; and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
