The University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The individual holding this position is the University’s Chief Academic Officer and reports directly to the President of the University. The Provost is responsible for partnering with the President to implement the University’s core values and strategic imperatives. The successful candidate is expected to lead the academic enterprise of the University while working collaboratively with students and faculty and with other University administrators such as the vice-presidents for administration and finance, enrollment management, research, student affairs, and university advancement, as well as the deans of the eight colleges, library, and graduate school.
The successful candidate should possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution; be an inspirational leader in a diverse community of scholars, researchers, and artists; possess an entrepreneurial spirit and should be able to envision new and innovative ways of organizing and delivering post-secondary education; exhibit a strong record of establishing academic priorities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels while maintaining quality and rigor of programs; and have a history of significant academic management experiences. Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively reach out to members of multiple constituencies from within and outside of the University are essential to this position.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is one of eight publicly-supported universities in the University of Louisiana System. The University, the largest in the UL System, is a Carnegie Research University with high research activity. Our University consists of eight degree-granting colleges and the Graduate School. The University’s enrollment is approximately 17,000 and it employs over 600 full-time faculty. At present the University offers 78 undergraduate degrees, 28 master’s degrees and 9 doctorates. UL Lafayette researchers design solutions for regional problems that have global implications. Over the past decade, the University has had rapid growth in research funding from external agencies approaching 60 million dollars in funding from research, grants, and sponsored programs.
