Vacancy at the Weissensee School of Art Berlin from 1st April 2012:
Professorship (W2) for Textile and Surface Design
Specialising in design and production in the field of textiles and surfaces
Code: 1/2012
We are seeking a creative person with inter-disciplinary design skills and a wide range of industry experience, as well as expertise in a variety of design production methods, including one-offs and multiples. You are required to support students to develop designs, products and objects from textile and non-textile materials for body and space. In addition, to teach at a high level and to critically explore the aesthetic, technological and socio-cultural contexts of textile and surface design practice.
We expect:
- open-mindedness with a diverse and user-oriented approach
- sound knowledge of international developments in aesthetic practice
- practical knowledge of textile and material processes and techniques, as well as a track record of experimenting with old and new technologies for creating surfaces
- supervision of projects on BA and MA degree courses, including final year students
- active participation in the development of appropriate teaching material and teaching strategies
- commitment to artistic academic research, particularly in new materials and textile construction
The position is a full time post. You are required to deliver 18 hours of teaching per week plus administrative and research duties.
