POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

Regulation of Chromatin and Gene Transcription by RNA Polymerase II

A Postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Ernest Martinez to study novel cofactors and molecular mechanisms involved in regulation of gene-specific transcription by RNA polymerase II in mammalian cells and in vitro. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in the analysis of gene expression or chromatin structure in mammalian cells or in cell-free in vitro systems. However, highly motivated candidates with a record of peer-reviewed publications in other areas of mammalian molecular biology are also encouraged to apply. Experience in gene transfer and expression analyses in cultured mammalian cells, analysis of protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions in vivo and in vitro, and in the purification and characterization of transcription factor proteins, including the use of FPLC systems, is highly desirable.

UCR is conveniently located near many other research institutes in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas and at about one hour drive from the coast and mountains/ski resorts.
