Description & Requirement NIH-sponsored postdoctoral research associate positions are available to study the mechanisms of human cancer tumorigenesis and invasion. Research projects are focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying the process of malignant behaviors of aggressive growth and invasion of human glioma tumor cells in vivo. Using model systems of cell culture, xenograft tumors and primary human tumor specimens, we are investigating signaling pathways of growth factor receptors such as EGFR and PDGFR that modulate downstream pathways critical for glioma tumorigenesis and invasion. Current research projects include how these signaling pathways regulate GEFs such as Dock180, and additional modulators of GEFs that stimulate small GTPases, leading to enhanced glioma tumorigenesis and invasion. We are also very interested in how other novel signaling and cell metabolisms affect glioma tumorigenesis. Our recent publications are: JCI, 2011, 121(3):905-917, JCI, 2011, in press; Oncogene, 2011, Epub ahead of print on Sept. 26; JBC, 2011, 286(33):29249-29260; Mol Cancer Ther., 2010, 9(4):929-941; Cancer Res., 2009, 69(3):794-801. Please visit our website: http://path.upmc.edu/people/faculty/sycheng.html for research interests and recent publications of our laboratory. Our laboratory is highly productive and innovative. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, demonstrated expertise in molecular biology/signaling, cell biology and/or biochemistry, and an established publication record. We are location in a state-of-art and world-class research facility, the Hillman Cancer Center Research Pavilion at the University of Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine offers a comprehensive benefit package for postdoctoral research associates.
