as an instrument officer for the neutron powder diffractometer

Job Description:
  • Involvement in the operation of the neutron powder diffractometer and the optimization of the operating parameters of all components, for example, as part of Forschungszentrum Jülich‘s commitment to the instrumentation of the planned European high-performance spallation source ESS
  • Creation and administration of your own research programme at the high-performance source of SNS
  • User support with a wide range of different measuring tasks
  • Implementation of your own experiments
  • Participation in the JCNS research programme with a focus on „structural analysis“.
Your Profile:
  • A university degree in physics, physical chemistry, crystallography or mineralogy with an above-average PhD
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with groups of Forschungszentrum Jülich and external users from research and industry
  • Interest in studying challenging scientific and technical issues
  • Willingness to undertake official travel (e.g. in the context of conducting experiments at other research neutron sources)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Well-structured and systematic working method.
