Description & Requirement

The Bioengineering Research Center has a Postdoctoral Research position requiring a highly motivated individual to participate in research funded by the National Institute of Health. The research involves the assessment of brain function through photo acoustic imaging techniques and developing imaging systems. The successful candidate for this position must be eligible to work in the U.D. prior to the start date of the appointment.

The individual will work with a dynamic research team in the laboratory of Dr. Xinmai Yang; will develop new photo acoustic imaging system and conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments; handle report writing and the writing of drafts for peer-reviewed publications and provide data for future extramural grant proposals; and serve as a mentor to Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering undergraduate and graduate students working in the lab.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Optics, Ultrasonics or a related field; two years minimum experience (professional or coursework) in either ultrasound or optics; one year minimum experience (professional or coursework) completing the signal and image processing required for the development of a new imaging system; and one year minimum laboratory experience.
