Description & Requirement

The Materials and Interface Nanotechnology Laboratory is seeking a talented postdoctoral research fellow. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry or an engineering field (if foreign, candidate must be able to attend an interview at Maryland). Candidates whose research focus has been *solid state physics*, with a demonstrated proficiency in *electron beam lithography*, are invited to apply. Experience with *simulations* is a plus. Research innovation and leadership must be demonstrated (through prior publications/awards). To submit an application please visit the laboratory website at www.ireap.umd.edu/materials/

The research project will be in the area of Plasmonics. Fundamental studies (not device engineering).

Our research mission is to understand and exploit interactions between inorganic nanoscale objects and their chemical and physical environment. Our efforts involve chemical synthesis, materials characterization, and proof-of-principle devices fabrication. We employ a variety of materials systems, including plasmonic nanoparticles, semiconductor nanowires, porous oxides and polymers.
