International Academic Alliance (IAA) announces an open position for a Calculus 1 and Macroeconomics instructors to teach in a Chinese High School in Beijing, China
 
International Academic Alliance seeks candidates with advanced degrees in Mathematics and/or Economics preferably with research interest, experience in collegiate teaching in the field of mathematics/economics, and publication agenda.  Offered under the auspices of the State University of New York at New Paltz, University in the High School program, the Calculus 1 and Macroeconomics courses will be delivered to Chinese High School Seniors/graduates in Beijing, China.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel to China to teach in the spring semester, from April 1 to July 15, 2010.  

Weekly teaching load: 10 hours of class instruction and 10 hours of student mentoring for each course

Training and Support: IAA's Beijing office will provide logistical support; IAA New York Program Coordinator will maintain contact with instructor to provide professional and personal support.  A laptop computer will be provided on loan to the instructor for this teaching assignment.  Training and/or mentoring will be provided by IAA and/or the SUNY New Paltz faculty mentor prior to your departure for China.  

Salary and benefits:  This is a contract appointment for a 15-week term beginning April 1, 2010 and ending July 15th 2010.  Basic salary for the 15-wek term contract is US$8,000 plus paid air-fare, travel and health insurance, permit and visa application fees, room and board, cultural activities, including weekend cultural and sightseeing tours.   A candidate who is academically qualified to teach both courses may receive a total of US $14,000 for teaching the additional course and hours.

The candidate should email a covering letter, resume and evidence of effectiveness in teaching, such as an evaluation by students or peers, and a course syllabus used in prior teaching.
