GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician I performs a variety of molecular and behavior experiments, sample preparation, data collections, and routine laboratory maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
•        Performing molecular biology procedures including:  RNA/DNA isolation from blood/tissue, PCR, and qPCR
•        Handling rats, performing basic behavior experiments, and managing the colony.
•        Recording results, carefully organizing data, and helping with statistical computations.
•        Assisting with manuscript preparation and grant-writing.
•        Maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment
•        Complying with all safety and infection control standards
•        Performing other administrative duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•        Bachelor’s degree in a related Biological Science (Biology, neuroscience, psychology with lab experience)
•        Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (especially excel)
•        Ability to perform duties independently
•        Judgment and action skills required to solve commonly encountered problems
•        Willingness to handle rats
•        Good organizational skills and lab cleanliness
