Description & Requirement

Post-doctoral position – Microbial physiology and molecular biology of Mycobacterium.  A 12-month position with possibility of extension is available immediately at the Texas A&M College of Pharmacy in Kingsville, TX.  Work will be focused on two related projects:  developing phenotype-array technology for the study of non-pathogenic Mycobacterium species;  and a gene-function discovery project in M. smegmatis.   The strong applicant will have experience in bacterial physiology and be proficient in molecular biology techniques.  The applicant would be joining a small research group of one other postdoctoral scientist, a lab assistant and the PI in the newly established and well-equipped College of Pharmacy.  South Texas has a warm and pleasant climate, and as a region is one of the most rapidly growing areas of the country, yet has an extremely low cost of living.  Kingsville is a small university town, and is only a 45 minute drive from Corpus Christi (a metropolitan area of 400,000) and the beaches of Padre Island.  The position must be filled quickly, thus foreign applicants experiencing immigration delays may be impossible to accommodate; it is likely that the successful applicant will currently be living in the US or Canada.  Dependent upon funding, the current position may be extended with room for a second post-doctoral spot.  Send CV, and contact information for 3 references to ldaniels@tamhsc.edu.
