SOLAR Senior Postdoctoral Fellow
A position is open to work on the physical modeling and design optimization of polymeric
photovoltaic cells as part of an interdisciplinary research team from the Chemistry,
Physics and Mathematics departments at UNC. The position is within the
Carolina Center for Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics. Research opportunities
within the project include:
(1) Mathematical and physical models of photonic crystals;
(2) Numerical modeling of wave propagation in microstructured media;
(3) Constrained optimization of geometric design of photonic solar cell.
Candidates with a PhD in mathematics, engineering or the physical sciences and with a strong
background in numerical modeling are sought. The initial appointment shall be
for one-year with a two-year extension based upon performance evaluation. In
particular, candidates with a strong interest in interdisciplinary applications
and a desire to see mathematical techniques used to design a final physical
product are encouraged to apply. Salary is competitive and will reflect prior research
experience.
