RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for 12 units of direct instruction each semester in Integrated Media, Photography, Art History, Service Learning and Media Culture undergraduate courses.
  • Contribute to the development of the Integrated Media concentration for the VPA department.
  • Develop curriculum, community partnerships, public projects, maintaining collaborative working relationships with community partners; act as liaison with the Service Learning Institute.
  • Contribute to new pedagogies, new technologies and development and support of the digital lab at VPA.
  • Serve on Department, College and University wide committees or task forces.

QUALIFICATIONS
(MINIMUM)

  • MFA in photography/digital media or related field with a minimum of four years of university teaching experience
  • Primary expertise in media and photography, with a strong background in media theory and art history
  • Significant experience in service learning and collaborative models of community engagement
  • Experience in media and community organizations through exhibitions, presentations, collaborative models and commissions
  • Ability to critically analyze the evolution of visual culture, media expressions and the history of representations cross-culturally
  • Skills in experiential, assets and outcome-based pedagogies
  • Candidates must possess the ability to team teach, apply new technologies and develop cross-disciplinary pedagogies that will engage student populations in an academic setting that emphasizes social justice and collaborative action for change and community reciprocity.

QUALIFICATIONS
(DESIRABLE)

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a basis of knowledge in integrated media including photography, digital and media culture, art history, service learning, community arts and experience in multicultural competencies as demonstrated through teaching experiences and professional practices
  • Ability to contribute to service learning courses through critical practices and applied learning
  • Knowledge of contemporary pubic practices, socio-media and theories in media analysis and an interest in developing new media curriculum that explores issues of gender, class, race, sexual orientation and social positioning with CSUMB students
