Description & Requirement

The ice core research group at the Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada seeks two Ph.D. graduate students to work for three-to-four years on NSF-funded paleoclimate studies in Greenland and Antarctica. Both positions will be supervised by Dr. Joe McConnell. The students will be expected to enroll in the Graduate Program in Hydrologic Sciences at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The Greenland research is part of the Danish-led NEEM deep-drilling project in northern Greenland. The Antarctic research is part of the U.S.-led deep-drilling project at WAIS Divide in West Antarctica. We seek enthusiastic candidates with strong backgrounds in chemistry, hydrology, climate modeling, earth or environmental science, and related fields.
