The Department of Landscape Architecture in the College of Architecture and Planning (C.A.P.) at the University of Colorado Denver seeks to fill a full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty position for its graduate program. Situated on the downtown Denver campus, the C.A.P. offers graduate degrees in Landscape Architecture; Architecture; Urban and Regional Planning; Urban Design; and Historic Preservation, and a PhD in Design and Planning. The C.A.P. has three centers that focus on research, civic engagement and issues of sustainability and health. The C.A.P.’s record of trans-disciplinary research with centers and colleges on the downtown Denver, Boulder and Health Sciences campuses, coupled with Colorado’s distinct urban/rural, mountains/plains landscapes offer unparalleled contemporary opportunities for landscape architecture.

The Department of Landscape Architecture seeks a candidate who places design at the center of her/his pedagogy and research. The ideal candidate will engage design at a variety of scales, generating places that 1) assure fair and equitable access to critical resources including water, food, housing, and transportation; and 2) facilitate design interventions that affirm cultural and social values and empower actions for positive change.

Job Responsibilities:  

In addition to teaching design studios, the successful candidate will teach courses in one or more topical areas including: design communication in multiple modes; urban design; sustainable design/planning; environmental and social justice; and digital processes/visualization in support of design studios. Faculty duties include:
• Commitment to creative, effective teaching in the core curricula
• Supervision of independent graduate research
• Participation in departmental and College governance
• Active pursuit and advancement of an established research agenda.

 
Required Qualifications:

Master’s of Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or Urban Design. Professional experience in urban design, landscape architecture, or architecture, and an interest in interdisciplinary work.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD or other doctorate degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field. Established teaching record. Demonstrated potential to achieve national or international recognition in research and/or scholarship.
