POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The instructor will be responsible for teaching and providing leadership in a variety of engineering courses including Statics, Dynamics, Materials Science, Mechanics of Materials, Circuit Analysis, Engineering Problem Solving, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Engineering Graphics, and other engineering related courses. Part of the teaching assignment may include later afternoon and/or evening classes. In addition to teaching, this position will require (1) developing and modifying curricula; (2) advising students in related academic programs; (3) helping promote the Engineering and Materials Science programs; and (4) participating in department/division activities and performing related professional responsibilities. This is a full-time, tenure track position which reports to the Dean of the Math/Science Division.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering or closely related field.
• Demonstrated successful teaching experience in the field of engineering at the undergraduate level equivalent to at least one academic quarter.
• Ability to work effectively with students and staff representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences and abilities.
• Excellent verbal, listening, problem-solving, critical thinking, and writing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Community college teaching experience in engineering.
• Experience teaching the variety of courses mentioned under “Position Description.”
• Experience with the use of new technologies in teaching engineering, including teaching online.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching and focus on student learning.
• Interest in creative program and curriculum development and teaching methods.
• Interest/experience in working with grants.

• Ability to impart excitement and enthusiasm into the teaching of the first two years of college engineering.
• Ability to provide leadership in working with colleagues and staff in developing curricula.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including a wide range of student preparedness.

• Ability to successfully interact with superiors, colleagues, students and staff as part of an educational team.
• Ability to work with high school students, teachers, and community members to promote the engineering and Materials Science programs.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Edmonds Community College, founded in 1967, is a public, two-year, coeducational state community college which each year welcomes some 11,000 academic and vocational students, including approximately 1,000 students who come here from as many as 55 different countries.
EdCC is located in the center of the growing south Snohomish County communities of Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Mill Creek and Woodway. PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in a classroom and office and may require standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to speak clearly is essential. Instructors must use a personal computer.
COMPENSATION:
The salary will be based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education and related experience. The current range is $46,083 to $56,763 for a 172-day appointment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
