Description & Requirement The Department of Human Development and Applied Psychology, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in the field of early learning, including preschool and early primary levels. As a full member of the Department of Human Development and Applied Psychology (HDAP), the position will be held at OISE/UT’s Institute of Child Study. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin July 1, 2011.
We seek candidates with expertise in the field of early learning with a particular focus on the teaching, learning, and care of preschool and early primary children. The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree in developmental or educational psychology, education, or another relevant discipline. The candidate must have extensive educational experience related to the learning, teaching and care of young children, an ongoing program of research in areas such as child development, classroom pedagogy, parenting, early language and literacy. Candidates must have an established, strong research program with evidence of scholarly publications and commitment to knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities of the position will include developing an externally funded research program within the Institute of Child Study and the Department of Human Development and Applied Psychology, undertaking graduate supervision, teaching at the graduate and initial teacher education levels, and working collaboratively with university and community colleagues. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
