Description & Requirement Job Summary:
Under supervision of the TELACU Communications Group Senior Vice President, this position creates, develops, implements and manages comprehensive strategies and programs to help ensure that each and every TELACU Scholar is empowered to advance and elevate the TELACU Mission Statement by becoming an ambassador, advocate, life-long learner and contributor to a vibrant and sustainable community of leaders equipped to make significant impact across all areas of society.
Essential Functions:
•Develops and manages the TELACU Scholars Alumni Association, employing innovative approaches to create continual growth and retention of membership, generating interest in and support of the Association by Scholars in all Foundation Programs, partners, and other community affinity groups by:
o Researching other successful associations to determine best practices.
o Reviewing and assessing the viability of the organizational structure as proposed.
o Developing and implementing strategies that will foster affinity for the Association within every Foundation Program.
o Crafting and presenting proposals for the Association, including implementation timeline and resources required.
o Garnering resources as needed.
o Planning and managing events and activities with undergrads, graduates, partners and other groups, as needed.
•Develops and manages the David C. Lizárraga Fellows Program by:
o Supporting the selection process of Fellows to solidify relationships and ensure alignment of priorities and expertise required for projects.
o Proposing, developing, implementing and overseeing all projects assigned to the Fellows to ensure timeliness and effectiveness.
•Develops, implements, and manages a social media strategy to support the programs and initiatives of the Foundation.
•Manages database, researching, developing and implementing effective updates and utilization.
•Gains comprehensive understanding of all Foundation Programs by engaging with staff, attending meetings, reviewing funders’ requirements, and attending activities related to fulfillment of these requirements and the goals of the Foundation.
•Applies knowledge and understanding to the development of initiatives, partnerships, grants, proposals, newsletters, press releases, reports and social networking strategies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Bachelors degree in relevant field of study and two years relevant experience, preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet usage, and social networking mediums. Must be highly motivated, demonstrate a high degree of creativity, and possess a strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and cooperatively. Must demonstrate excellent research skills, exemplary verbal and written communication skills, and be a confident public speaker. Familiar with the composition and distribution of press releases, newsletters, and other collateral material both in print and electronic form. Must have exceptional organizational skills and be capable of prioritizing multiple projects effectively. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Must have a valid California Driver’s License, proof of current vehicle insurance, a driving record that meets the TELACU Education Foundation insurer’s criteria, and able to use own vehicle in course of work.
Physical Job Description:
Manual Dexterity: Work requires regular speed and accuracy for most of the working day. Physical Effort: Work requires infrequent physical demands. Work Conditions: Normal office conditions. Hazards: Little or no exposure to hazards. Equipment Use: PC, PDA, keyboard, copier, facsimile.
