UMUC’s Graduate School of Management & Technology is currently seeking a Director, MAT Field and Clinical Experience who will report to the Chair, Teacher Education.  The UMUC Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, while primarily online, also incorporates face-to-face student experiences and a required semester-long school-based student internship prior to graduation.  This is a national program with students in multiple states.  Regular local travel is required.  Specific responsibilities include:

•        Conducting outreach and furthering relationships with P-12 schools in Maryland, other states, and in conjunction with other UMUC units, overseas, e.g., relate to P-12 education in Department of Defense schools

•        Participating in development and implementation of technological enhancements for conducting field and clinical experiences at a distance

•        Securing, documenting, and monitoring field experiences

•        Ensuring that required  training, support and assessment requirement are implemented effectively, consistent with department expectations for both candidates and professional personnel

•        Promoting alignment of field and clinical components with the MAT curriculum

•        Ensuring that school, district, and state requirements and priorities are addressed

•        Performing other job-related duties as assigned

A Master’s degree with at least five (5) years of relevant experience and certifications is required.  Evidence of excellence in teaching and developing effective teachers is required.  Teaching and administrative experience in P-12 school, including teacher supervision is required, preferably at the level of Principal.  Demonstrated relationships with Maryland state school administrators are strongly preferred.  Knowledge and experience of MAT regulations and a terminal degree in education or a related field is preferred.   

SALARY: Commensurate with experience
