Description & Requirement The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto invites applications for a teaching stream Lecturer position in the BEd component of the University of Toronto Concurrent Teacher Education Program. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer and will begin July 1, 2011.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach in and provide purposeful, collaborative, and innovative leadership in the ongoing development and implementation of the BEd portion of the University of Toronto Concurrent Teacher Education Program.
Responsibilities include: teaching BEd courses in the University of Toronto Concurrent Teacher Education program; contributing to program design and innovation; developing partnerships with schools and multiple university divisions; and supervising BEd-related practica and field programs. The course load will be the equivalent of six half courses.
Preferred candidates will possess demonstrated evidence of: a broad understanding of secondary education and an excellent record of teaching; leadership in curriculum and instruction, in professional, community, and/or district-wide organizations; commitment to equity and social justice and skill in developing culturally relevant and inclusive curricula and pedagogy; commitment to and experience with initial teacher education (e.g. associate teacher, in-service professional development, and/or AQ teaching); and ongoing professional growth. Graduate study in education is required and a doctoral degree would be an asset.
Appointments at the rank of lecturer may be renewed annually to a maximum of five years. In the fifth year of service, Lecturers shall be reviewed and a recommendation made with respect to the rank of Senior Lecturer. The starting salary will be in the $70,000-$85,000 range and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
