Description & Requirement AUA is conducting a search for a Chair of Introduction to Clinical Medicine, (ICM), for the School of Medicine.
American University of Antigua, (AUA), was chartered in 2004 by a group of renowned American physicians and medical education professionals to address the shortage of healthcare professionals faced by the United States. In order to address this shortage, AUA is dedicated to breaking down the barriers that have prevented underrepresented minorities from obtaining a medical education, and subsequent licensure, in the United States.
AUA offers medical, nursing and veterinary programs designed to ensure that students meet the necessary requirements for medical licensure in the United States and Canada. As the only hospital-integrated medical program in the Caribbean, AUA has graduated over 200 licensed physicians in the United States and Canada.
AUA’s new 60 million, 17-acre campus located on the island of Antigua in the Eastern Caribbean is a testament to the vision and pledge to provide the most comprehensive learning facility in the Caribbean and contains over 75,000 square feet of Wi-Fi enabled classrooms.
The Chair of ICM ensures that the ICM program and curriculum meets or exceeds the US standard in the teaching of physical diagnosis, patient examination and professional physician conduct. A primary goal of ICM is to promote the synthesis of the basic science training with patient communication and interaction skills as well as the ability to work on a team that may include physicians, nurses and hospital staff and administrators. As part of the basic sciences curriculum, ICM prepares students with all the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct a patient history and physical exam following a US standards protocol in preparation for their clinical training within the United States.
Minimum Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
1. M.D. and board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine and/or Internal Medicine.
2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and administration.

4. Computer proficiency utilizing current and new computerized teaching technology and familiarity with communicating platform such as Black Board.
5. Preference will be given to candidates who are published researched in the areas of his/her expertise.
This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of medicine and medical care within the US while living in the Caribbean and earning a potentially tax free income. A one year commitment is required.
