OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Department of Management and Marketing, one of four academic departments in the Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick,  wishes to recruit an individual to the Chair in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in order to:

•        Provide strong academic leadership to the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Department of Management & Marketing and more broadly in the Kemmy Business School and University of Limerick;
•        Develop and lead an appropriate research programme in Entrepreneurship & Innovation;
•        Publish in scholarly outlets and disseminate research outputs among key stakeholders;
•        Work collaboratively with colleagues in developing grant applications and in securing research funding;
•        Recruit, mentor and supervise a cadre of doctoral candidates in the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
•        Lead curriculum development in Entrepreneurship & Innovation in the Department, the School and the University more broadly;
•        Undertake administrative duties as may be requested by the Head of the Department, Dean of the School or Senior Management of the University.

The Department of Management & Marketing is currently academic home to some 25 academics working in the allied fields of Business Strategy, Communications, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Management, Knowledge Management and Project Management. It is a leading centre on the landscape of business education and enjoys an excellent reputation as a centre for teaching and learning and has a significant portfolio of programmes at undergraduate, taught postgraduate and executive education levels. In addition it has a vibrant research programme and is home to 27 Doctoral candidates, many of whom hold competitive scholarships for their doctoral research programme. Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with Departmental, School, and University colleagues to achieve the teaching, research and academic leadership requirements of the role.

Teaching
1.        To lead curriculum development in the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
2.        To engage in new undergraduate and graduate programme development in support of the Business School and the University’s strategic plan;
3.        To deliver undergraduate and graduate modules in the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
4.        To continuously work to enhance the student learning environment;

Research
1.        To engage in scholarly research that serves to further develop the reputation of the School in the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
2.        To publish in scholarly outlets;
3.        To work collaboratively with colleagues in developing grant applications, in securing research funding and in leading research projects;
4.        To recruit, mentor and supervise a cadre of doctoral candidates in the field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation;

Academic Leadership
1.        To provide programme leadership at undergraduate and postgraduate level as deemed appropriate by the Head of Department and/or Dean;
2.        To contribute to relevant Departmental, School and University committees as appropriate;
3.        To provide leadership in inter-faculty collaborations appropriate to the development and enhancement of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Limerick;
4.        To grow and maintain a network of external stakeholder relationships which enhance the reputation of the School and the University.

DESCRIPTION:

Essential
•        A strong track record of teaching in Entrepreneurship and/or Innovation at undergraduate and post-graduate levels
•        A strong track record of research output in high quality scholarly outlets

Desirable
•        A record of successful PhD supervisory completions
•        Experience of curriculum development at undergraduate/graduate levels
•        A record of successful grant applications and income generation
•        A record of academic leadership and demonstrated collegiality
