Chair, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance

12-Month Collegiate Faculty, Full-Time

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) is undertaking to become a national leader in cybersecurity education. Leveraging the University's reputation, linkages to government, the military and industry, and its ability to design and deliver high-quality educational programs, UMUC is moving rapidly to create the infrastructure to accomplish its goals in cybersecurity education. The Chair, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance will be an integral part of this effort. The Chair will be responsible for the overall academic and administrative management of a new Graduate School unit that will encompass an MS in Cybersecurity, a specialization in Information Assurance, and a certificate in Information Assurance. In addition, the new department will house UMUC's Center for Security Studies and CyberLab. Specific duties include developing and monitoring new and existing programs and courses related to cybersecurity; recruiting, managing, and mentoring faculty and staff; managing outcomes assessment, outreach to possible corporate and institutional partners; and other job-related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have a national reputation as an authority on cybersecurity-related topics. The position requires a relevant terminal degree. Teaching experience at the graduate level is required, as well as a record of related scholarly and professional activities.  This position also requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. It is desirable that the candidate have managerial/professional experience in the field of higher education, and teaching experience with adult learners and in an online environment.
