Description & Requirement

Candidates are sought for an Associate Director (Year-to Year Professional) and Associate/Full Research Scientist (Continuing Status Eligible, Fiscal Year appointment), at the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Arizona. The rank for the Research Scientist position will depend on experience, including the candidate's record of publication.

This position is one of several positions authorized by the Provost as part of a broad hiring initiative implemented by the umbrella Institute of the Environment to enhance the University's world renowned environmental and water research. An interdisciplinary search committee has been formed, which includes water experts from outside, as well as inside, the university.  Position is open until filled but the successful candidate will be expected to start in the Fall of 2011.

This position will work closely with the WRRC Director to administer the WRRC, a Research and Extension Center within the College, part of a national network of water centers, and part of the Water, Environmental and Energy Solutions (WEES) initiative at the University of Arizona.

Qualifications
* Must have experience in water resources research.
* Should have Ph.D. or terminal degree in a related discipline.
* Must have a strong record of publications and research grant activity, which must include water management and policy related topics.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.   

Preferred Qualifications
* Strong preference will be given to researcher who has worked on water issues of Arizona, the Southwest and/or the Colorado River basin and has a demonstrated record of interdisciplinary work.
